Discovering the Bristol style secrets of Lara Lockwood



How are you flying the flag for Bristol style?



I run a photographic studio in Bristol with Jack Willingham Photography, although I travel all over the world for work. I also make my own range of jewellery, selected pieces from which are stocked at Clifton Rocks.



I love Thierry Mugler his outrageous corsets and dresses made of plastic, metal, leather and crystals are incredible. For getting dresses made locally no one can top Gilly Woo Couture. Her attention to detail and skill, along with creative flair, mean that you end up with an incredible bespoke garment.

I'm not a huge fan of celebrity but I think Dita Von Teese always looks immaculate.



Describe your personal style



My style is slightly split. I'm either head to toe in bright block colours with luminous pink, mauve or orange lipstick, or I'm in all black, with plenty of leather and dark purple eyeshadow. I like to customize clothing, and I'm a huge fan of dying clothes I have a vast array of bright jeans that started life white and now span from yellow to various shades of purple. I love creating high fashion makeup looks for work and the crazy colours and extreme styles tend to cross slightly into my every day life.



What your best kept Bristol style secret?



Although Bristol is a relatively small city, there such a diverse range of style and culture. I love events like the Invisible Circus for their colour and creativity.



What your favourite trend this season?



I love the forties glamour that's around for A/W11 wonderful pencil skirts with fitted jackets and leather gloves. It a timeless look that always endures. I have a large collection of my grandma's handbags from this era and matching leather gloves. I also adore all the fetish inspired black leather that's around as I'm very partial to studs and buckles.
